Less than 48 hours after an unidentified man plunged into the Kirikiri-Festac-Amuwo community canal, his body has been recovered by the Police.
According to a report by The Nation, the body of the victim identified as Bayode Ahmad Lawal was recovered by the rescue officers around 1:30 pm yesterday, Sunday, April 9, 2017.
The victim was reportedly in company of his friends before his passing. He was said to have visited a gas station near the canal before he left for the canal where he took his own life, The Nation reports.
It was gathered that his friends ran after him could not catch up with him before he jumped into the canal.
The publisher of Festac Online, Eva Atese also confirmed the report saying “his body was found on Sunday afternoon.”
The passing of Lawal is coming few weeks after late Dr. Allwell Orji took his own life at the Adeniji – Adekunle end of the Third Mainland Bridge.
Similarly, four other cases of attempted suicide have been recorded across different parts of the State. One of such cases is that of a textile dealer, Mz. Momoh who was saved by gallant RRS officers while attempting to dive into the lagoon.
