10% OF 612,000 BRIDGES ACROSS U.S COMMUNITIES NEEDS REPAIR OR REPLACEMET

There are over 612,000 bridges in the United States. Almost 10% of them need to be repaired or replaced.

That adds up to 55,710 bridges, according to a report on the state of the nation's roads and bridges from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA).

The states with bridges in the worst shape? Iowa, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Americans cross these structures in disrepair 185 million times a day.

"If the bridge is structurally deficient, one of the key elements is below a 4 on a scale from 0 to 9, meaning poor or worse condition," Alison Black, the transportation association's chief economist and author of the report, told CNN. 

"It doesn't mean the bridge is unsafe, but it does mean that the bridge is in need of repair."

AJEGULE COMMUNITY, OTHERS RECEIVE MOSQUITO NETS FROM IKEJA ELECTRIC

By Deji Lambo In commemoration of this year’s World Malaria Day electricity distribution firm, Ikeja Electric, has donated mosquito nets to residents of Ajegunle community in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State. The Corporate Social Responsibility and Brand’s Supervisor, IE, Adebimpe Akintola, said apart from Ajegunle, five other communities in the state were also beneficiaries of the gesture targeted at 6,000 residents. By Ibrahim Mohammed Armed men on Monday attacked a school in Kaduna, killing one person and kidnapping seven students and a teacher, residents said. The armed men killed a man and abducted seven students and a teacher of Prince Academy, located at Damba-Kasaya village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. DRUG TRAFFICKING: SUSPECT NABBED WITH 106 PARCELS OF HEMP & 4 PASSPORTS

A suspected cannabis trafficker, Mr. Sylvester Gbenga has been arrested by the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS. Gbenga was arrested at Gbaji Customs checkpoint along Lagos-Badagry expressway on Wednesday and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday. In a statement by the Customs Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Command, Taupyen Selchang, the suspect was arrested with about 106 parcels of hemp.
