HAVE YOU HEARD OF PROGRESSIVE JETTY IN KIRIKIRI TOWN?

Progressive Jetty is the entry point for tourists, workers, transporters, goods and residents into the Kirikiri town community through the sea.

This is the only area left for the people of Kirikiri town to have access to the sea and other parts of Lagos state after the tank farm owners, ship butchers and bonded terminals took over the communities shore line.

The river used to be a place of solace that accommodates lots of activities back then in the 50’s to 80’s and finally in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

From the progressive jetty, one can take a boat to other neighboring communities such as Aloro Community etc Also boats can take you to other areas in Lagos state such as Snake island, Coconut, Badagry, Takwabay, Ibeche, Lagos Island and Victoria Island. You can as well see a direct boat to Benin Republic.

The Baale of Aloro Community happens to be the gate keeper of the Progressive Jetty which has a daily patronage of over 400 people and their goods with over 50 readily available solid boats fitted with life jackets and driven by the best boat drivers in the world.

CHINEDU COMMITS SUICIDE IN DIOBU COMMUNITY

BURUNDI GOVERNMENT ORDERS ALL SINGLES TO GET MARRIED BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR

In an effort to reform morals, Burundi government has ordered all unmarried couples until the end of the year to legalise their relationships. The government gave the order on Friday follows the launch of a campaign this month by President Pierre Nkurunziza “to moralise society” in the tiny nation which for two years has been in the grip of sometimes violent political upheaval. Interior ministry spokesman Terence Ntahiraja said the country was facing a population explosion which he blamed on “illegal marriages”, polygamy, bigamy and “hundreds of schoolgirls getting pregnant”. He said church and state-sanctioned weddings were the solution and were a patriotic duty. Nkurunziza said Burundians should show their love for each other — and their country — by getting married. NOW YOU CAN SELL TRASH IN GOVERNMENT WASTE CENTER AT NYANYA COMMUNITY

By Inès Magoum  A waste recycling center called "Cash 4 Trash" has recently been opened in the Nigerian capital Abuja. Commissioned with the support of Waste Africa, a non-governmental organization (NGO), the facility will primarily contribute to environmental cleanup. Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria, is now home to a waste recycling center. Built in the Nyanya area, the facility was inaugurated on August 20, 2020 by Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, the Minister of Territorial Administration of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. The waste that will be recycled in the new Abuja center will be collected from the population. According to the local authorities, everyone will be paid according to the amount of waste they provide. No details have been given, on the amount of the fee per ton. “We want to empower young people while cleaning up the environment,” said Minister Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu.
