…Continued from last week
“He said his name is Michael” Ramipatra replied.
Michael looked at Alegribusa’s rumpled face and was immediately intimidated by it. Rita on the other hand knew her father well as the strictest dad ever to live on the face of the earth. She knew she was already in deep trouble.
“I called you here to tell you that Punto and Checheskey did not commit any crime and they are innocent, it is our daughter that caused all of the problem. She lied. She wrongfully accused those two buys because she was scared of what we would do to her if she lost what we sent her to the market to get. In fact, she even went as far as leaving what she bought by the side of the road to visit a boy in his house (pointing to Michael) and I am very sure that he must have taken her to Ansara hotel or Juliana Hotel perhaps, he must have defiled her but when she returned to the side of the road, the nylon bag wasn’t there anymore.” Ramipatra concluded as she attached a resounding slap to Rita’s face.
“Mama Rita, it’s okay! Come let me have a word with you in private” Alegribusa requested.
“You know that it has been a long time we caught a thief in this community. I know that those two boys are innocent. I didn’t just want them to go just like that. Also the bag contains pepper, tomato spices and other ingredients used to cook red stew. What do we do now? Everybody wants to see the end of this case. I am confused.
“Just let the boys go” Ramipatra advised as they turned to face the murmuring crowd.
“Guards! Take Rita to the guard room and bring the two boys here at once” Alegribusa ordered.
“Sir, you say make we take who go guard room?” The guard asked.
A stern look from Alegribusa quickened the footsteps of the guard.
That statement stunned the crowd. They all had bolt from the blue facial expression. It was obvious that there was a new development in the story. The issue was getting more and more interestingly complicated.
“Why must he send his daughter to the guard room? Is she the cause of all this?
“Hmmmm. I think the boys were accused wrongly!”
“Are you sure she is not the one who stole the nylon?” the crowd asked one another with folded arms while the guards headed out of the gate with Rita…to be continued next week.
