The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area, Hon Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan, on Tuesday, 11th January 2022, presented the budget for year 2022 to the legislative arm.
Hon Akinlola-Hassan presented a total sum of #2,923,832.094.89k to the legislature, tagged 2022 Budget Of Development. With the way she carried the budget, it is obvious it is indeed huge and heavy.
During the formal presentation of the heavy budget, the chairman said it is an encompassing budget because all the needs of people of Oriade have been captured in the estimate proposal. She however, said the actualization of the needs will be hinged on availability of funds.
" Today, I stand before you to present the Year 2022 Appropriation Bill, which we have aptly christened the "Budget Of Development". 2022 is a year in which we will focus on completing ongoing projects, like the new office complex and legislative chamber. We will also expand our social intervention programs and support for citizens across all ages. Also we cannot afford to rest on our oars. We are therefore using this opportunity to appeal to our people to continue to support our administration's efforts to make Oriade a better place to live".
Speaking after the budget proposal was presented to the house, Councillor Shittu Jamiu Jimoh, leader of the legislative house, commended Hon Akinlola-Hassan for the achievements of her administration in 2021.
"The analysis made by the Executive Chairman in the budget proposal indicates readiness of her administration to make life more comfortable for residents of Oriade Council|" he said.
Councillor Shittu emphasized that there is need for the council to work assiduously to raise the internally generated revenue by blocking all leakages, in order to achieve developmental aspirations of this year Appropriation Bill.
"The Legislative Council shall continue to collaborate with the Executive in order to bring the dividend of democracy to the door steps of our people, but all hands must be on deck to ensure budgetary discipline and transparency. We shall do the needful and ensure speedy passage of the Appropriation Bill, so that development of Oriade Local Council Development Area can continue". he concluded.
The brief ceremony was witnessed by the council's Vice Chairman, Chief Moshood Badmus, the Council Manager, Prince Akitoye Babatunde, the Council Treasurer, Mrs Gbesan Olushola and all Heads of departments and units.
