...continued from last week...He got hit by an invincible object. It was not a bone
breaking hit. It only made him stagger. Punto became curious; he grew anxious
to find out exactly what hit him. Meanwhile, Brigante had dropped his bush rat’s
wild goose chase to look for what hit him also. This invincible thing continued
to hit them one after the other consecutively.
Now the time was 10:30PM, Punto and Brigante had not yet
seen the thing that hit them. They stood still and thought skillfully. Just as
they planned, the invincible thing ran to hit Brigante, and then Punto noticed
that a bucket full of water fell in its path. Brigante also noticed the signal from Punto, so, he dived
at it and grabbed it. They both struggled but he held it so tight that it moved
Brigante from left to right and right to left. It swigged him all over the
place, yet he was strong enough to pin it down. It couldn’t free itself from Brigante’s
grasp. While holding it down, Punto got a rope from his backyard and tied the
invincible thing anyhow. It was like tying a rope around the air. The rope was
long enough to go round many times. Finally, they tied the other end of the rope
to a tree.
The sight looked magical – one end of a rope tied to a tree
and the other hanging in the air - both boys shook each other in
accomplishment. They say down on the floor close to the tree panting heavily as
they caught their breath. It was 11:00 pm already.
“I have to go now, its late and my door is open. My parents
may come in search for me” Punto said to Brigante.
“Hold on Punto, are you not going to find out what
we have tied? Let us use a stick to hit it or perhaps pour fuel on it and
throw a match stick on it” Brigante suggested.
“Do as you wish Brigante, I am going home” Punto replied as
he moved towards his backyard.
The sun had begun to set from the east. It was big, reddish
and bold. It was beautiful. Fishermen who fished at dawn always enjoy the
heavenly view. Even farmers who have their farms up the mountains enjoy the
amazing scenery.
Punto and his parents were having their daily devotion in
the living room when there was a loud knock on the gate.
“Knock knock” Brigante banged at Ponto’s gate loudly.
“Who is that” Godfrey answered.
“Its me Brigante, I want to see Punto, it is urgent, please”
Brigante yelled.
Punto immediately rushed to open the door…to be continued
