HELICOPTER CRASHES INTO BUILDING IN IKEJA COMMUNITY - 2 DEAD

A helicopter which lost control has crashed into a building at No 16 Salvation Road, Opebi in Ikeja area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos Rapid Response Squad confirmed that two people were dead and one rescued at the scene of the accident.

Quorum Aviation Limited, operators of the helicopter that crashed today, is an Aviation and Logistics air transportation company with offices in Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos and Houston Texas, USA.

The company operates both Rotary (Helicopters) and Fixed Wing aircraft. It has been expanding its fixed-wing service by introducing an air shuttle transportation service in some cities in Nigeria.


On August 12, 2015, a helicopter operated by Bristow Helicopters Nigeria Limited carrying 10 passengers and a crew of two crashed in Lagos. Six people survived that crash while six fatalities were recorded.

On February 3, 2016, a Sikorsky S-76C++ Helicopter, belonging to Bristow Helicopters Nigeria Limited, was involved in a controlled-water landing in the Lagos lagoon but all 11 occupants in the helicopter survived.



The wreckage was located by search and rescue helicopters from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency at about 68 nautical miles from Lagos. Only the pilot was injured, the agency said.
