For the people of downtown Makoko in Lagos Mainland, the Valentine Day celebration, penultimate Tuesday brought happiness and joy. That is because, that day, the community and its residents felt and received the love and warmth of humanity as Management and Staff of MIC Funeral Services, a Lagos based Funeral Services hosted a Valentine Day party for the residence.
The venue which was the open space outside the Baale’s office, witnessed a large turnout of Makoko’s residence who praised the organisation’s humanitarian gesture towards them at this time.
Most of the school pupils, who returned from school to witness the event, joined the party which took off just after noon. Food was in abundance and so were gifts such as mosquito nets and food provisions for each individual. And these were well packaged for each individual.
The Baale lauded the effort of the organisation for coming out to show love for their fellow country people in this time of recession. He also rained prayers of blessing for the leader of the organisation Pastor Mrs Tunji Okusanya.
In her response, Mrs Okusanya, the Managing Director of MIC Funeral Services said the gesture is a fulfillment of what her late husband Tunji Okusanya stood for. She said he was a philanthropist who funded many humanitarian efforts. That the organisation will continue to do corporate social service to the society, in remembrance of the organisation’s founder.
