COURT REMANDS KANI FAYODE AND NENADI USMAN IN KIRIKIRI PRISON

The EFCC on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 arraigned Nenadi Esther Usman, a former Minister of Finance and Director of Finance PDP Presidential Campaign Organization in the last general election; Femi Fani-Kayode also a former Minister and Director Media/Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization; Danjuma Yusuf and Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Limited before Justice M. S. Hassan of the Federal High Court Lagos, on a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.
The accused were alleged to have stolen and illegally disbursed about N4.9 billion Naira belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria for political and personal uses. The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them. The Judge, however, ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody and adjourned to Friday, July 1, 2016 for hearing of bail applications

MAN HANGS HIMSELF ON A TREE IN TSE AGABARA COMMUNITY

A middle-aged man, identified as Kula Adasu, was on Tuesday found hanging from a tree in Tse Agabaragba, headquarters of the Konsisha Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident was said to have thrown his family into mourning. The deceased, who was married and had children, was said to have left no suicide note that would have revealed the reason for his action. Sources close to the family told our correspondent that the extended family members had accused the deceased of being responsible for the death of one Master Terseer Adasu. Gyuver was said to have died in Makurdi early this month and he was to be buried next week Monday. DRUG TRAFFICKING: SUSPECT NABBED WITH 106 PARCELS OF HEMP & 4 PASSPORTS

A suspected cannabis trafficker, Mr. Sylvester Gbenga has been arrested by the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS. Gbenga was arrested at Gbaji Customs checkpoint along Lagos-Badagry expressway on Wednesday and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday. In a statement by the Customs Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Command, Taupyen Selchang, the suspect was arrested with about 106 parcels of hemp. The statement said, “The arrest of the suspect was possible through intelligence gathering by the seizing officers, led by A/C Abubakar Hamza, who trailed the suspect from neighboring Benin Republic.

OGHARA COMMUNITY GETS SKILL AQUISITION CENTER

Dele Ogunyemi The Nigerian Navy Logistics Command, Oghara in Delta State has commenced the construction of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association Skills Acquisition Centre. The Command’s Coordinator of NOWA, Mrs Loveleen Lassa disclosed this during the commissioning of the NOWA’s Secretariat and the foundation laying ceremony of the association’s proposed Shopping Complex at the Logistics Command in Oghara. HOUSE OF REPS SENDS DELEGATES TO ACCESS THE DANGER OF TANKS FARMS IN KIRIKIRI TOWN COMMUNITY

By Leke Baiyewu At an investigative hearing organised by an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives in Abuja on Wednesday, the residents and tank farm owners strongly differed on the location of petroleum depots in the communities. The House of Representatives has resolved to send a delegation to Ijegun, Kirikiri and Satellite Town areas of Lagos State to assess the level of danger posed by petroleum tank farms to residents of the communities. The residents demanded the relocation of the tank farms in the area, saying they posed threat to lives and property. The Chairman of the Satellite Town Forum, Mr Michael Imitimi, said Satellite Town remained a residential area and that the primary responsibility of government was to protect lives and property.
