COMMUNITY CRISIS: ARMY TROOPS RESCUE HELPLESS RESIDENTS FROM BLOODSHED

The catastrophe associated with the Owode Ijere Youth forum -  CDA2 Youths since June 2014 hit the highest point where fighting with weapons among themselves caused horror among residents. The Nigeria Army troops attached to the Nigeria Prison Service swooped in and handled the issue professionally saving the residents from bloodshed and planned disaster – Kirikiri News Media reports.

“It was just like Biafran war. See how the soldiers disarmed the boys one after the other and causing them to flee in all directions” a resident of Magbesa Street said in excitement as he described the scene.
Kirikiri News Media gathered that at midnight on Monday morning, the community office located at Magbesa junction which has been locked since September 1st 2015 was forcefully unlocked with a hammer for the youths to gain unsupported access.

At about 11:30am that same day, terror was unleashed when boys armed with cutlasses, bottles and sharp objects stormed the streets and began to cause chaos, fighting the unarmed youths on duty, injuring helpless residents. The fight is channeled towards who runs the affairs of the office of the Owode Ijere Youth Forum. The youth presidential power tussle is between both camps of the former youth president and the present youth president.

It was a bloody scene as machete were used to cut open heads and hands, bottles were used to stab ribs and chest, punches flew here and there so did broken bottles. However, over six people had multiple injuries and were hospitalized but there was no death casualty.

Also gathered was that about fifteen boys mobilized from Ajegule, and Aloro joined the fight with weapons.

The Nigerian army troops immediately responded with an armored personnel carrier to calm the already helpless situation and to restore hope to the fleeing and panicking residents. They also patrolled the entire town for two days and ensured that law and order was restored.

"The presence of the Army troops was the only thing that could stop this boys, it was beyond the power of the Police. I am really glad because if not for their intervention, innocent residents would have been killed.

Over 6 people were Arrested in connection to the unrest and have been handed to the police for further investigations and prosecution. According to recent reports, they have been charged to court and remanded in  Kirikiri Prison.

More reports on who were arrested , others who were detained, released and the reason why Army troops interfered into the issue to be published soon...
