The few weeks to the February 2015 elections was known by all to be a desperate political period where politicians could do and say and act the impossible to clinch one thumb on the ballot paper.
The PDP Candidate for the Federal House of Representatives for Amuwo Odofin Constituency, Hon. Oghene Emma Egoh was one of the many aspirants of that fierce political period where APC aspirants lost some technical positions to few PDP aspirants in Lagos state and Abuja. The Hon. made several powerful promises to the people of his constituency while aspiring for the position.
Exactly one year and few weeks after his inauguration as the Federal Constituency Leader for Amuwo Odofin, residents of his constituency are yet to witness less than 20 percent of his promises fulfilled. Below are many of his campaign promises that he made to the people which a resident clearly stated - "he has forgotten all because he is now in Abuja";
"Vote for me, I am your best choice to renew and improve the decayed infrastructure, roads, water drainage, sewage, health care, education and recreation grounds for youths in Amuwo Odofin area, Festac town, Satellite town, Navy town, Festac extension, which are federal areas and also Agboju, Mile2, Jakande estate, Ijegun, Oluti, Mazamaza, Kirikiri town, Abule ado, Ibeshe, Ibasa, Igbologun, Ikare, Irede, Onikere, Gujere, Abule-osu etc.
I will reduce university school fees - fight for rights of indigent students to scholarship and bursary and also support construction of low cost houses for our federal constituency.
I will support education and challenge corruption.
I will support our traders and business people in ASPAMDA Trade fair.
I will support youth in sporting activities.
I will vigorously provide empowerment for men who want to have Keke-Napep, Okada, Contract etc.
I will promote women empowerment to obtain financial aid to trade and support their children.
I will support market women and promote youth employment.
I will provide water through boreholes and establish health centers.
I will introduce and support legislative bills that will improve electricity generation and distribution.
I will de-congest the traffic in Festac 3rd gate by ensuring that the road is expanded" The enchanting empiricist Hon. Emma Egoh uttered while campaigning.
As a matter of fact, Dillion road in Kirikiri town happens to be the worst road in Amuwo Odofin and this is a federal road that was campaigned about. Igbologun has not had electricity for over 6 years, this was mentioned also in your campaign, Health care issues has not even come to light, 66 percent mentioned infrastructures during campaign remains decayed in Amuwo-Odofin.
Except there is another constituency leader over Barracks, Tedi village, Soba town, Aloro and other riverrine areas etc, these places were omitted.
Every one in PMB's administration supports corruption and the word support shows no total commitment especially when you support business people in ASPAMDA.
There is no university sighted in Amuwo Odofin area - There has not been any public enlightenment on scholarships or support of low cost housing or any establishment of boreholes and health centers in the Amuwo Odofin Constituency.
Bills concerning introduction to improve electricity generation and distribution only led to an increase in tariff, crazy bills and constant black-outs. The Festac third gate hasn't been expanded yet.
Well, since there was a public campaign filled with several mouth watering promises for the entire people of Amuwo Odofin, on the other hand, there should also be a public show of any single fulfilled promise. There should be press presence in every project. The people have to be aware of every constituency achievements.
However, while holding Hon. Egoh accountable according to franchised votes and votes of capability confidence, residents of all the above mentioned and non-mentioned communities within your constituency ask this question in one accord;
"WHEN WILL YOU FULFILL JUST ONE OF YOUR CAMPAIGN PROMISES THAT YOU MADE TO US LAST YEAR, WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANY YET?"
