EIFFEL TOWER IN FRANCE SWITCHES OFF FOR ALEPPO VICTIMS IN SYRIA

Paris' iconic Eiffel Tower went dark Wednesday in a show of solidarity with the people of Aleppo.
The world-famous landmark turned out its lights at 8 p.m. local time in what Mayor Anne Hidalgo's office called a "symbolic measure... to call out the international community again on the urgency to act."

Hidalgo said she decided to make the "gesture of support for the besieged inhabitants of Aleppo."

On Thursday, a medical humanitarian convoy, loaded with equipment and chartered by theUnion of Medical Relief Organizations (UOSSM), will depart Paris and head to Aleppo.

The UOSSM was created by Franco-Syrian doctors in 2012 at the beginning of the Syrian civil war to help the populations affected by the conflict.

Since meeting Aleppo Mayor Brita Hagi Hasan in Paris on December 5, Hidalgo has helped raise awareness of those in the affected part of the besieged city.

She sent a letter sent to the Pope asking him to intervene in favor of a peaceful solution in Syria, hung a banner on the façade of the Paris Town Hall to show Parisians' solidarity and wrote a letter to the World Congress of Mayors (UCLG) to enlist their support.

On Wednesday, the ceasefire brokered by Turkey with Russia for eastern Aleppo collapsed less than a day after it was implemented, as Turkey and activists on the ground accused the regime and other forces of heavy shelling and bombardment.

Deaths were reported on both sides Wednesday, while some 50,000 civilians -- low on food and medical supplies -- were believed to remain inside the small pocket of eastern Aleppo still under rebel control.

The ceasefire was aimed at evacuating both rebels and civilians, but by late afternoon the promised evacuations had not taken place.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said he was appalled by the ceasefire agreement's swift collapse.

"While the reasons for the breakdown in the ceasefire are disputed, the resumption of extremely heavy bombardment by the Syrian government forces and their allies on an area packed with civilians is almost certainly a violation of international law and most likely constitutes war crimes," he said in a statement.

STOLEN TRANSFORMER: “NO TRANSFORMER FOR KIRIKIRI TOWN IN EKEDC OFFICE”

An official of EKEDC has said that there is not transformer apportioned to KIRIKIRI town by the Local Council in their custody at their office. The official in a conversation with KIRIKIRI News media said that the office is not aware that the transformer sitting at Shokumbi street is no longer there. In a concerned bid to arrest the situation, The official directed the community to question the Local council authorities concerning the Transformers which was given to the community and who they were handed over to inside the community. WOMAN POURS COLA INTO ATM MACHINE IN CHINA

By Song Jingyu     A Chinese woman has been arrested for vandalism, after being persuaded by telecom fraudsters to pour cola into two ATM machines in a bid to retrieve money that had been stolen from her.   Zhang Ling (pseudonym), 33, played both victim and suspect in the absurd case in southwest China’s Chongqing municipality, according to a report by Chongqing Evening News.   The duped woman received a phone call from the scammer in November, claiming she had a 1,300 yuan phone bill. She was persuaded to call a designated "police station" number, and transferred 5,300 yuan (768 US dollars) to a bank account. As she grew suspicious, the woman called the fraudster up the next day, asking for her money back. The swindler told her to dump cola into an ATM. With the ATM’s invoice, the fraudster said a police officer could help her retrieve her money.   Amazingly, Zhang followed the instructions, buying a cola and emptying it into the machine. Officials of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, Wuse Zonal office, Monday, successfully subdued inferno that almost razed down the Wuse 2 Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The fire fighters led by the Sector Commander, Melone Onyekachi, arrived the Wuse 2 office of the Commission when the Service was alerted of the fire by the Incident Duty Officer of the Commission, Kayode Oyetunde, at 1910 hours.
