Two electricity poles carrying high tension wires fell to the ground at Biola Johnson Street, Kirikiri town at the early hours of the day due to heavy rainfall accompanied by wind storm.
The poles collapsed to the ground touching a pool of water on the street thereby passing current from the wires to the pool of water stretching over twenty meters. An eye witness who was on his way to work under the rain when the incident happened, said that he was afraid and if not for God , he would have lost his life.
“The water on the floor had current enough to roast any living thing because there was power at the time of the collapse. I was the one who contacted the EKEDC official about the incident on phone and they switched of the current and removed the fuse. If not for God, I would have lost my life” Emma spoke to Kirikiri News Media.

The EKEDC officials, who were on ground later that evening, confirmed the incident saying that they are working on it.
“We are examining the damage which will be forwarded to the head office. We are working on the issue, it is dangerous indeed but we want to assure the residents that there is no current in the wires” the EKEDC official spoke to Kirikiri News Media.
However, some residents are scared and prefer to pass through Mosheshe Industrial Estate to get home to avoid stories that touch.
