Apparently, rainfall is considered natural and when excessive, it could be called a natural disaster. This may mean that it wasn’t orchestrated by any human. Rainfall in the tropical regions can be precarious most times considering the fact that there are only two seasons - rainy and sunny.
However, shelter which is one of the necessities of life prevents humans from weather and its many glitches. In a case where the shelter is wrecked due to heavy rainfall, does it mean the owner never envisaged it?
The first rainfall in March was devastating. It came with all attitudes of destruction. Accompanied with thunder and lightning. it was as though there was a royal rumble in the heavens. While the precipitation surged carelessly from the sky, wind storm swept roof tops, fell electricity poles, broke security fences, uprooted innocent foliage and made those without shelter know and appreciate its worth.
After much overwhelming by the rain, fixing time becomes quite impossible. In a community where there no maintenance team for such disasters, what do you expect?
How long will it take to repair a fallen electricity pole?
How long will it take a family to repair their broken fence?
How long will it take a call for development action to be heard? Most especially now that the rains have come. The roads will become swimming pools and death traps, the gutter will carry all sorts of garbage until it can flow no more. Our community must see the light!
