“EKEDC ABANDONED OUR COLLAPSED ELECTRICITY POLE” VN, BJC RESIDENTS PROTESTS

Officials of the EKEDC have abandoned the collapsed pole at Biola Johnson Crescent because of a petition written against their slow repair response by a concerned landlord, Kirikiri News Media reports. A reliable source who lives at Victor Nwachukwu Close told Kirikiri News Media that one of the landlords had written a petition to the EKEDC headquarters at Marina, Lagos two days after the two electric poles collapsed in the area.

“One landlord Mr. Luka, not real name, is the cause behind our predicament here. Because of him, we don’t have light since that pole collapsed. After the officials had accessed the damage, the man wrote a petition direct to the head quarters. Now the EKEDC official came here to disconnect the wires and threw the broken poles into the nearby bush. Its nine days now and we have not had light” A resident who lives on Victor Nwachukwu Close expressed.

“I wrote a petition to the HQ because I am a Nigerian and I know my rights. Am I supposed to beg EKEDC to repair a collapsed pole? I only did what was right because I pay my bills and I have served my country for 5 years before I retired” Mr. Luka spoke incessantly to Kirikiri News Media after a call was put through to him for comments on the drafted petition.

There has been no comment from the EKEDC after a text message was sent to the HQ. But after some days, there was a response saying they are working on it.

The disconnected electricity wires are littered all over the area and residents panic as though there was power running through them.
