ABUJA AIRPORT OFFICIALLY OPENS FOR OPERATIONS AFTER 6 WEEKS

Ethiopian Airlines A350 get water salute as the first aircraft to land on the newly rehabilitated Abuja International Airport  The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja is now open for operations and has been certified to accommodate international and local flights. This is according to the Minister of State for aviation, Mr Hadi Sirika, who told journalists at the airport in the nation’s capital that the rehabilitation of the runway is 100 percent complete. The minister landed at the airport at about 11.15am on board a Caverton helicopter from Kaduna, coming a day to the date scheduled for the reopening. "I PREFER KIRIKIRI PRISON TO LONDON PRISON" - MICHAEL ADEBOWALE

Nigerian Islamic extremist, Michael Adebowale, who is currently in jail for mudering British soldier, Lee Rigley in 2013 is reportedly making a bid to serve out the rest of his sentence in a Nigerian jail. Michael Adebowale and his accomplice Michael Adebolajo ran down the solider, a father-of-one, with a car before launching a brutal machete attack on him near his barracks in Woolwich, South East London. The former was given 45 years in jail for his part in the bloody attack. The 37-year-old is currently holed in HMP Wakefield, otherwise known as Monster Mansion, but he wants to return to his parent’s native land. According to The Sun, Adebowale has even written to immigration experts asking for their advice. A source told the paper: ‘Michael hates Wakefield. WORLD'S OLDEST MAN DIES AT 116 IN SOUTH AFRICA

                   Fredie Blom - seen here on his 116th birthday - said there was no special secret to his longevity A South African who was thought to be the oldest man in the world has died at the age of 116. Fredie Blom's identity documents showed he was born in Eastern Cape province in May 1904, although that was never verified by Guinness World Records. When he was a teenager, his entire family was wiped out by the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. He went on to survive two world wars and apartheid. Mr Blom told the BBC in 2018 that there was no special secret to his longevity . "There's only one thing - it's the man above [God]. He's got all the power. I have nothing. 14 BED CLINIC BUILT IN YAHAYA KWANDE COMMUNITY

By Gyang Bere, Jos A former member of the House of Representatives in the Eighth National Assembly, Dr. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, recently constructed and furnished a 14-bed clinic for residents of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was learnt that the clinic, located in the centre of Jos, would serve the health needs of the less privileged in society. The Yahaya Kwande Community Clinic has female and male wards, children and delivery units and a consulting room for doctors and nurses where emergency cases would be attended to. Dr. Suleiman commenced the construction of the clinic as part of his constituency projects during the Eighth Assembly but couldn’t finish it before he left the House of Representatives in 2019. He completed, furnished and handed over the facility to the community on Monday, August 24.
