It’s lights give warmth to any passerby at night. It makes you to understand the difference between light and darkness.

Some people even take selfies there while some children use the lights to read and do their assignments.

The Federal Government has issued directives targeted at phasing out the sale and consumption of alcohol in sachets and polyethylene terephthalate, PET, bottles. The goal is to reduce availability and curb abuse. Effective January 31 2021, producers of alcohol in sachets and small bottles are to reduce production by 50 per cent of capacity prior to January 2020. Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, disclosed this in a statement. Adeyeye said uncontrolled access and availability of high concentration alcohol in sachet and small volume PET or glass bottles contribute to substance and alcohol abuse in Nigeria. She added that NAFDAC and the ministry of health have engaged major shareholders and have reached certain agreements. NGO RUNS FREE MEDICAL TEST FOR PROSTITUTES IN ONITSHA COMMUNITY

A Non-Governmental Organization, Save Young Girls Motherhood Foundation, has carried out free medical tests for commercial sex workers in Onitsha. The NGO has been championing a novel campaign since September last year to rescue young girls who are into commercial sex business. The girls were tested mainly for hepatitis B and C, the two most deadly variants of the killer disease, as well as HIV and AIDS There were also tests for malaria and typhoid fever, and Sexually Transmitted Infections, STIs. Patrons who showed willingness were equally tested. But, getting the girls to run the test was another uphill task, different from calling their attention in the first place. Though the exercise was carried out free of charge, it took more than just the usual persuasion to get them to comply. The results of the tests would later be sent to their collated phone numbers, after which those whose test came back positive would be expected to visit hospitals for immediate treatment.
