…Continued from last week
Both Punto and Checheskey's parents hugged their children and pressured to find out their whereabout for days. the way they smiled made it seem that they were fine. indeed they were fine, weren't they?
Before Punto took his shower at his home and rested, he spoke at length with his parents and siblings narrating everything that had happened without missing a line. Checheskey’s parents took him home without giving him a chance to say goodbye to Punto. Although both boys knew it is definite that they will meet in their usual place if the need arises.

Punto’s mum, Victoria, prepared Garri with Ogbono Soup which was his favorite meal. There were enough butterflies in his belly as he swallowed calculated balls dabbled upon slippery delicious soup that glided down his throat with ease and landed into the stomach gently.
“Punto my son, you have to be careful and more prayerful. I don’t like the way you are behaving these days” Victoria said.
“My son, in 10, when I was about your age, I wasn’t as fortunate as you are when incidents such as what you passed through some days ago occur. My father didn’t talk to me this way that I am talking to you now. God will always guide and shield us from all form of negative appearances” Punto’s father, Godfrey advised.
Punto had just finished eating and washed his hands.
“Thank you mum and dad” he greeted.
“Eh hen, Mhhm” they replied.
“Good night dad and mum” he said after watching the nine o’clock news in the sitting room.
At, night, exactly 10:15, Punto was pressed and headed to the backyard. His eyes were heavy with sleep. He had just begun sleeping. When Punto opened the back door, he went close to the short fence where the gutter was and began to pee when he saw his neighbor, Brigante, still awake and very much active.
“This bush rat is big and I have to catch it. A very delicious and good pepper soup it will make for me tonight” Brigante said as he pursued the rat to and fro and round and round the area with a big stick.
Punto loved adventure so much but he was not cut out for such and not at this hour of the day.
“Brigante, I need to sleep, last week was a hell of a week for me. Maybe next time” Punto replied as he turned around with a big yawn eluding from his mouth.
Just a step forward;
“What hit me” Punto asked.
“What hit me too” Brigante questioned...to be continued next Wednesday.
TRIALS OF PUNTO is published every Wednesday.
