WAREHOUSE COLLAPSES IN SOKO COMMUNITY, IBADAN

A warehouse under construction in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has collapsed killing one person.


It was learnt that the building, which was said to have collapsed on a mosque beside it, left another victim injured.


The incident, it was gathered, happened in the Soka area of Ibadan, around the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.


A resident told our correspondent on Saturday that the deceased was identified as Bolaji, a teenager.


The incident was said to have been reported at the Sanyo Police Station in Ibadan and policemen from the station were said to have visited the site as part of their investigation. Some residents told our correspondent that the warehouse had suffered a partial collapse in the past while blaming the incident on the alleged incompetence of those building it.


The Police Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted said that investigations are ongoing into the matter.

7 STUDENTS AND ONE TEACHER KIDNAPPED IN DAMBO-KASAYA COMMUNITY

By Ibrahim Mohammed Armed men on Monday attacked a school in Kaduna, killing one person and kidnapping seven students and a teacher, residents said. The armed men killed a man and abducted seven students and a teacher of Prince Academy, located at Damba-Kasaya village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. LALONG VISITS VICTIMS OF JOS VIOLENCE

DRUG TRAFFICKING: SUSPECT NABBED WITH 106 PARCELS OF HEMP & 4 PASSPORTS

A suspected cannabis trafficker, Mr. Sylvester Gbenga has been arrested by the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS. Gbenga was arrested at Gbaji Customs checkpoint along Lagos-Badagry expressway on Wednesday and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday. In a statement by the Customs Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Command, Taupyen Selchang, the suspect was arrested with about 106 parcels of hemp. The statement said, “The arrest of the suspect was possible through intelligence gathering by the seizing officers, led by A/C Abubakar Hamza, who trailed the suspect from neighboring Benin Republic.
