KIRIKIRI TOWN COMMUNITY RESIDENTS BLOCKS POLICE STATION PROTESTING..

Residents of Kirkiri town community has blocked the gate of the Kirikiri Divisional Police Headquarters located in Kirikiri town, Lagos Nigeria.

The blockage was made with a car carrying the dead bodies of two young men at the passenger seat. The entire community gathered around the car directly in front of the police station gate which was locked from inside with heavy chain to avoid a pull down.


An Eyewitness who lives in the community spoke to Global Community Reporters saying that police men always take tolls illegally from the tanker and container drivers whenever they drive pass the front of their station. Today, when one of the drivers refused to pay, a police man on duty opened teargas in the air which resulted in choking two men to death and making the driver partially blind then he reportedly ran into the police station to avoid being lynched.

"Policemen poured tear gas on the face of a container driver for delaying to pay the illegal #1000 they usually collect from them. Driver couldn't see properly killing two guys in the process." the resident said.

Resident demand that justice be exercised by bringing out the culprit to face the full wrath of the law.

The DPO or the PRO to the Kirikiri Divisional Headquarters has not made any official report at the time of filling of this report.

LAGOS GOVERNOR APPROVES NGN1.5B PENSION MONEY FOR LG RETIREES

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the release of N1.5billion intervention fund for the payment of outstanding gratuities and pension arrears of local government retirees in the state. "PRISON OFFICERS EXTORT MONEY FROM US AT THE TRAINING SCHOOL" - TRAINEES

By Stella Iyaji, Joshua Odeyemi (Abuja) & Eugene Agha Officers of the Nigeria Prison Service undergoing a training programme at its institution in Kirikiri Town, Lagos, have accused officials of the school of extortion in the guise of providing them with uniforms. About 408 personnel of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Prisons, drawn from commands across the country, are participating in a three-month course on development at the institution, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered. The programme is due to be concluded on November 15, it was gathered. Participants, however, alleged that the school had forced each of them to pay N37000 for ceremonial dress, belts and caps, items they claimed to posses.
