FIVE MEN PUT HEADS TOGETHER TO ONE SNATCH TOYOTA CAMRY

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested five members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered a stolen vehicle.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Haruna Muhammed, who confirmed the arrest said that in the early hours of Monday, August 5, at 03:30am, following intelligence report, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the suspects at Ojoto in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.

They are: Emmanuel Amaechi, 35, Innocent Onyedikachi, 29 years, Obinna James, 20 years, Chukwuma Edeh, 22 and Tochukwu Owor, 27.

The suspects allegedly conspired and snatched a Toyota Camry 2009/2010 model at gunpoint in Onitsha from one Nzube Udegbu on the Sunday, August 9.

The snatched vehicle has been recovered and the case is under investigation after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

"NIGERIANS WITHOUT PREPAID METERS SHOULD STOP PAYING ELECTRICITY BILLS" - FG

By Jerrywright Ukwu Electricity consumers ​not provided with prepaid meters ​as at​ March 1 2017 have been told to stop paying electricity bills -  This is the directive from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) The Distribution Companies (DISCOs) have however fired back saying the rule is not applicable to all Nigerians The NERC has ​declared that electricity consumers ​that were ​not provided with prepaid meters ​as at​ March 1 should stop paying electricity bills presented by DISCOs on the basis of estimated billing methodology. The commission also ordered the DISCOs not to disconnect any such customer that refuses to pay the bills and further advised such customers to report to the commission if disconnected. The NERC said​ the new directive is in line with its mandate of protecting the rights of customers. 14 BED CLINIC BUILT IN YAHAYA KWANDE COMMUNITY

By Gyang Bere, Jos A former member of the House of Representatives in the Eighth National Assembly, Dr. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, recently constructed and furnished a 14-bed clinic for residents of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was learnt that the clinic, located in the centre of Jos, would serve the health needs of the less privileged in society. The Yahaya Kwande Community Clinic has female and male wards, children and delivery units and a consulting room for doctors and nurses where emergency cases would be attended to. Dr. Suleiman commenced the construction of the clinic as part of his constituency projects during the Eighth Assembly but couldn’t finish it before he left the House of Representatives in 2019. He completed, furnished and handed over the facility to the community on Monday, August 24.
