Ubulu-uku situated in Aniocha South remains a light that will never be hidden. It is widely known fact that no community in Anioma would courageously compete against her when it comes to farming and traditional cloth-making. It is equally not debatable that the community stands miles apart when it comes to intellectual expertise.
Shockingly, the same Ubulu-uku is fast turning to hotspot of the oldest trade on earth. The “suppliers,” mostly very young and promising teenagers are said to have been “imported” while the patrons reside within and outside the community. The corresponding reality is that both parties come in same heights and colours.
It is believed that the nefarious trade is mostly aided by social media and projected to be more pronounced at a very popular hospitality spot. It was however gathered from competent sources that most of the patrons, perhaps to hide their identities, preferred home service. In fact, it takes only a few seconds phone dial by the prospects and the service is in large supply.
Meanwhile, it must be strongly emphasised that the disgraceful business is chiefly aided by the unjustified power outage across Ubulu-uku. It is equally understandable that everyone needs every opportunity to break the hard-biting economic hardship. However, what becomes the incontestable prime position of Ubulu-uku in farming and traditional cloth-making? Is the emerging trade not an aberration when every available space in the community is fast turning to religious centre?
