MAY DAY, LABOUR DAY /INTERNATIONAL WORKERS DAY 2017 IN NIGERIA

May Day, Labour Day, International Workers’ Day are some of the appellations for May 1st. It is a public holiday in Nigeria.

It began in Europe as a traditional spring celebration to welcome Summer while the first Monday of every May is usually a bank holiday for labourers and workers. The US and Canada observe same workers’ holiday on the first Monday of September. The Catholic church dedicates 1 May to Saint Joseph the worker. What began as a pagan holiday is now celebrated with marches and rallies across the world.

In Nigeria, it is also a day of speeches and demands for better working conditions and remuneration, by Labour Union leaders. This year, as with several others before, labour is asking for a raised minimum wage for civil servants. As usual, there is a statement from government applauding workers and promising to provide better conditions.

May 1st is simply another good excuse for workers to put up their feet. By good coincidence this year, it falls on a Monday. By all means, do enjoy your long weekend. If you know of any rallies or march taking place to honour the day, do join and remember to keep it peaceful.

Few weeks after the raid in Sunset Juliana Hotel by the Nigeria Army when the crisis between the two factions of the Community Youth (Owode Ijere Youth Forum) reached its peak. Both factions fought using cutlasses, bottles and sharp objects. Innocent residents were at their mercy.

It shows you one of the secondary schools names Great Trinity College owned by Henry and Henry Group then you can see the big tank farms owned by Index Petrolube, Swift Oil and Techno Oil. If you look closely, you will see the truck parks and the river behind where ship loaded with Oil product dock to transfer into the tanks. You will also see some houses that are very close to the tank farms. This picture was taken in 2015. Since then, the landscape has changed dangerously. FOR WOMEN: TEN WAYS TO ERADICATE VAGINA ODOR

Vaginal odor is a health issue affecting many women. It’s both unpleasant and embarrassing, and it can seriously undermine a woman’s self-esteem. It normally results from a vaginal yeast infection, although oftentimes the cause may be something else. Needless to mention, keeping your vagina healthy is vital for your overall health, healthy births and healthy marriages. Although moderate vaginal odor is normal and nothing to be worried about, a strong vaginal smell, such as a fishy vaginal odor, could point to a more serious problem and requires medical attention. Strong vaginal odor is commonly linked to other vaginal symptoms, such as itching, burning or irritation. Vaginal discharge also accompanies vaginal odor most of the time.

Some of the possible causes of vaginal odor include: 1. Bacterial Vaginosis Bacterial vaginosis or an overgrowth of normally occurring vaginal bacteria is the most common cause of vaginal odor. It’s very common and affects around 30% of women who are in their reproductive years. Bacterial vaginosis has been linked to miscarriage, preterm birth, as well as the increased risk of acquiring other sexually transmitted infections. A “fishy” odor is one of the most prominent indicators of bacterial vaginosis. Although the exact causes of this condition are still unknown, studies link it to certain activities, such as unprotected sexual intercourse or frequent douching. 2. Trichomoniasis Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection that also accounts for vaginal odor. Actually, it’s the most common non-viral STD in the world.
