…deploys mobile doctor
Niger state experienced the desired wind of change in its health sector as MTN Foundation recently commissioned a mobile clinic under the MTNF Yello Doctor Project.
The mobile clinic which is stocked with medical consumables and drugs is designed to provide ready access to maternal and child healthcare services.
The Executive Governor of Niger state, residents of the community and top government functionaries present powered praises on the Foundation for bringing health services closer to the community. A resident of Dagigbe community, Musa Aleru was happy about the development. “Thank God we no longer have to travel long distances to get health services. This is indeed a long awaited blessing.” He said.
Commissioning the mobile clinic, the Executive Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello in his goodwill message, expressed gratitude to the Foundation.“I am pleased to receive this Mobile Clinic on behalf of my people in Dagigbe community. I thank MTN Foundation for this innovative initiative. This will make quality healthcare services accessible by the community dwellers without traveling long distance in search of health services.”
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Director, MTN Foundation, Mohammadu Danlamisaid, “our primary objective as a Foundation is to complement government’s efforts in improving the quality of lives in our communities across the country. The donation of this Mobile clinic is a fulfillment of this objective. It is our belief that this clinic will go a long way in helping the people of Dagigbeand other communities in Niger state to access quality healthcare.” He said.
Niger state is one of the 6 states that have benefited from the Y’ello Doctor Mobile Healthcare Intervention Scheme which was launched in 2014. Other beneficiary states include Ogun, Delta, Abia, Taraba and Kastina. The goal is to ensure that rural dwellers do not travel more than 5km in order to access health facilities from their respective homes.
