Unending tears in Ihiala today as Dangote trailer loaded with cement ran into people around Total Filling Station killing 7 persons at a spot and left many with serious injuries.

A dangote truck fully loaded with cement inexplicably veered of the road and plunged inside the gutter facing that first bank.

Not less than 25 persons lost there lives in that ugly incident. the casualties were mostly hawkers ranging from young children hawking gala,pure water, aki n ukwa, chips to old women selling okpa bread and the rest.

It was gathered that the driver was no were to be found as soon as the incident took place. there were wailing all over the place as people were running frantically trying to know if they can identify any of the casualties.An ambulance was also around carrying the dead to a nearby mortuary at our lady of loudres ihiala, Anambra state.

MAN SMUGGLES INDIAN HEMP TO BROTHER INSIDE KIRIKIRI PRISON

A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Friday, sentenced 24 year-old-man, Patrick Amadi to two years in prison for smuggling marijuana into kirikiri prison. Amadi was charged by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on one count of drug trafficking. Justice Ayotunde Faji sentenced Amadi after he pleaded guilty and begged the court to temper justice with mercy and promised not to engage in crime again. Justice Faji said the prison term should begin from the date of his arrest and admonished him to use the jail period to turn a new leaf and become a better person. Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, told the court that the accused was arrested on June 18 at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos with 200 grammes of the narcotics. Aernan said Amadi was caught with the substance in his sandals, which he planned to hand over to his brother, whom he went to visit. "PRISON OFFICERS EXTORT MONEY FROM US AT THE TRAINING SCHOOL" - TRAINEES

About 408 personnel of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Prisons, drawn from commands across the country, are participating in a three-month course on development at the institution, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered. The programme is due to be concluded on November 15, it was gathered. Participants, however, alleged that the school had forced each of them to pay N37000 for ceremonial dress, belts and caps, items they claimed to posses.
