SABUWAR UNGUWAR KOFAR KAURA COMMUNITY PROTESTS AGAINST MOUNTING OF COMMUNICATION MAST

Sabuwar Unguwar Kofar Kaura community in Katsina are protesting the siting of a telecoms mast within its locality, saying it puts their health and safety at risk.

Spokesman of the community Nuraddeen Sani cited research showing masts subject residents to severe health hazards from electromagnetic wave, RF radiation and Infared over a long period of time.

He alleged that the mast been erected are without the minimum standard setback of 50 meters as specified by the National Communication Commission (NCC) and National Environmental Standard Regulation Agency (NESREA)

“We are living in fear presently, this is a serious concern on the part of our community,” he added.

He called on the constituted authority to step in and address the situation adding that we have lodge our complaints to NESREA, NCC, state Urban Development board but to no avail.
