67-YEAR-OLD WOODWORKER INVENTS HAND-MADE WOODEN BICYCLE

A woodworker for over 50 years, 67-year-old Mamatta Sadi from Avati County Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region tested his purely hand-made wooden bicycle on the road attracting many onlookers. 
The bike is 2.8 meters long, 1.3 meters high, and except for a few metal pieces including more than 10 screws and bearding, the whole bicycle is made of wood. The bicycle took Sadi more than one month to complete, but he says it's not completely finished yet. He intends to add a bell, proper rubber tires and some iron pieces to strengthen the bicycle. MAN SMUGGLES INDIAN HEMP TO BROTHER INSIDE KIRIKIRI PRISON

A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Friday, sentenced 24 year-old-man, Patrick Amadi to two years in prison for smuggling marijuana into kirikiri prison. Amadi was charged by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on one count of drug trafficking. Justice Ayotunde Faji sentenced Amadi after he pleaded guilty and begged the court to temper justice with mercy and promised not to engage in crime again. Justice Faji said the prison term should begin from the date of his arrest and admonished him to use the jail period to turn a new leaf and become a better person. Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, told the court that the accused was arrested on June 18 at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos with 200 grammes of the narcotics. Aernan said Amadi was caught with the substance in his sandals, which he planned to hand over to his brother, whom he went to visit. "PRISON OFFICERS EXTORT MONEY FROM US AT THE TRAINING SCHOOL" - TRAINEES

About 408 personnel of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Prisons, drawn from commands across the country, are participating in a three-month course on development at the institution, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered. The programme is due to be concluded on November 15, it was gathered. Participants, however, alleged that the school had forced each of them to pay N37000 for ceremonial dress, belts and caps, items they claimed to posses.
