ILASHE COMMUNITY GETS NEW HALL FROM LAGOS STATE

The Lagos State Government has commissioned a Multi-Purpose Hall Complex, at Ilashe, a riverine town in Oriade Local Council Development Area of the State.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said the new complex would promote economic activities and social development in the area as the commissioned complex comprised of a Skill Acquisition Centre, Gari Processing Centre, Cold Room for storage, Viewing Centre and Market Stalls.


The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande, noted that the commissioning was in line with the All-Inclusive and Participatory Policy Thrust of the present administration and its total commitment to eradicating poverty in all forms among the citizenry, especially women and children.

Stressing the importance of some of the facilities, Akande said the viewing centre would keep the people informed about government policies and programmes and also serve as a relaxation point to unwind, while the Gari Processing Centre would assist farmers in processing their farm products like cassava.

She disclosed further that the Ministry would supervise the entire facilities and manage the Skill Acquisition Centre, while others would be handed over to the Community.

Hon. Akande however appealed to the people of the area to make the best use of the facilities and protect them from being vandalized.

In his opening remarks, the Sole Administrator of Oriade Local Council Development Area, Mr. Habib Aileru commended the State Government for providing the Complex, saying that it would make life more meaningful to the people of the riverine area. He added that the laudable gesture further confirms the readiness of the Ambode-led administration in developing the five divisions of the State equally.

Responding on behalf of the Community, Oba Fatai Akinwunmi, the Onilashe of Ilashe Kingdom thanked the State Government and expressed the sincere gratitude of his people, stating that the location of the Complex would not only fast track socio –economic growth of the community but also enhance lives of the indigenes and residents.

He assured the State Government of the community’s continued support and cooperation.
