IKEJA ELECTRIC TO GIVE ROBUST DISCOUNTS TO OWING CUSTOMERS

Ikeja Electric has announced its plan to reduce customers’ unpaid outstanding bills by 10-20 per cent depending on how much the customer owes. This new scheme known as “Debt Discount Initiative” is designed for unmetered non-maximum demand customers i.e customers who do not have meters and are usually given estimated bills.

The scheme is in three categories ; Scheme 1 provides a 10 per cent discount for customers who owe between N50,000 and N100,000.00; Scheme 2 provides 15 per cent discount for those owing above N100,000 but less than N200,000, and Scheme 3 provides 20 per cent discount for customers who owe above N=200,000.

Ikeja Electric said they decided to introduce this scheme in order to help customers who are willing to pay off their debts but cannot because of the harsh economic reality of the country.

The Nigerian Prisons Service hereby issues this notice: That the NPS does not sell contract documents whether for ration/gas supply or other services to prospective contractor(s) and could not have authorized any individual or organization inside or outside the service to do so on its behalf. That the service does not use agents(s), syndicate(s) or private individual(s) to carry out recruitment of personnel into the service and does not sell recruitment form to job seekers.   The Nigerian Prison Service therefore wishes to disassociate itself from illicit dealings and shall be held liable for any such transaction with fraudsters masquerading as agents working for or on behalf of the NPS. MENINGITIS AFFECTED COMMUNITIES RECEIVES 500,000 DOSES OF VACCINES

Nigeria has received 500,000 doses of meningitis C containing vaccine to combat the epidemic in the country, the WHO has said. The doses were sent by the International Coordinating Group (ICG) on Vaccine Provision, an organisation that coordinates the provision of vaccine during outbreak emergencies. Dr Wondimagegnehu Alemu, the WHO Country Representative to Nigeria, said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday. He said the vaccines, funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, have been administered in Zamfara and Katsina States where the disease was most endemic. Alemu said an additional 820,000 doses of the meningitis C conjugate vaccine donated by the UK government to WHO was currently being sent to Nigeria. He said in the last week, the ICG also sent 341,000 doses of the meningitis C-containing vaccine to Niger Republic. CHIEF JUDGE FREES 153 PRISONERS FROM KIRIKIRI PRISON

153 inmates of Kirikiri prison have been released under an amnesty program by the Lagos State Chief Judge, Olufunmilayo Atilade as part of an exercise to decongest the prisons. The freed 153 persons included 129 inmates of the Medium Prison and 24 inmates of the Maximum Prisons in Kirikiri. Three of the inmates who gained their freedom in the exercise had been standing trial for more than fifteen years.

Orient Daily gathered that the council began the enforcement of order prohibiting street trading and indiscriminate loading and picking of passengers within the congested Isigate, the city center on April 1. Mostly affected areas were Warri Street, Owerri and Umuwaya roads as well as other adjoining streets within the city centre where petty traders and commercial vehicle operators have converted to markets stalls and mini parks.
