Held this year in the African island country of Mauritius, and marking its 47th anniversary, the commonwealth parliamentary conference is an annual event that brings together, parliamentarians, clerks and other legislative officers across the
African region with a view to fostering Unity and economic integration amongst them.

From Nigeria, the Deputy Majority leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Olumuyiwa Jimoh led some members of the house to the event. One of the legislator present at the event was the Minority leader of LAHA Hon. Akeem Bello who did not fail to share with his Amuwo Odofin constituents, exciting pictures of himself chilling by the beach side.
For the Lagos/ Nigerian parliamentarians, it is their belief that the conference will not only foster unity amongst the African countries but will also widen their horizon in the legislative business, as they share ideas with their counterparts from other climes.
The theme of this year’s conference is Africa and Sustainable Growth.
Representatives from Nigeria are expected to return on the 28th of August after the five days conference.
