LAW MAKERS ARE MEANT TO DO THE WORK OF THE PEOPLE NOT FOR THE PEOPLE

The law maker representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly has said law makers are meant to do the work of the people not for the people.
He said this while receiving the Humanitarian Voluntary Association for Community Development (HUVACOD) represented by Comrade Kadijat and her team who paid a courtesy visit in recognition of the Honourable's active contribution to his constituency. 


Hon Dipo explained why many people do not understand the difference between a law maker and a commissioner or the legislative and executive arms. "As a law maker I make laws to favour, protect and guide the people and also keep them on check, I also perform oversight, that is monitoring ministries, departments, businesses even the governor are all being checked by law makers".

He said the difference between doing the work of the people is going there to represent them to table their issues before the house and the state while the executive arm, the ministries etc are who law makers call to instruct and guide them on the work to be done for the people.



Comrade Kadijat and her team were on a visit to the Honnourable's office to commend him for his good works adding that such representation is what is truly needed.

AJEGULE COMMUNITY, OTHERS RECEIVE MOSQUITO NETS FROM IKEJA ELECTRIC

By Deji Lambo In commemoration of this year’s World Malaria Day electricity distribution firm, Ikeja Electric, has donated mosquito nets to residents of Ajegunle community in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State. The Corporate Social Responsibility and Brand’s Supervisor, IE, Adebimpe Akintola, said apart from Ajegunle, five other communities in the state were also beneficiaries of the gesture targeted at 6,000 residents. Akintola said apart from giving out mosquito nets, the firm was also educating residents on the best way to prevent malaria. She said, “We are concurrently running this intervention across six different communities in the state and our plan is to target at least 1,000 people in each of the six locations where the project is being executed. 7 STUDENTS AND ONE TEACHER KIDNAPPED IN DAMBO-KASAYA COMMUNITY

By Ibrahim Mohammed Armed men on Monday attacked a school in Kaduna, killing one person and kidnapping seven students and a teacher, residents said. The armed men killed a man and abducted seven students and a teacher of Prince Academy, located at Damba-Kasaya village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident happened around 8 a.m. on Monday when the gunmen stormed the rural community while the students were preparing for their Junior secondary school examination‎. It gathered that the abducted students are JSS3 students who were among the exit students asked to resume by the federal and state government. DRUG TRAFFICKING: SUSPECT NABBED WITH 106 PARCELS OF HEMP & 4 PASSPORTS

A suspected cannabis trafficker, Mr. Sylvester Gbenga has been arrested by the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS. Gbenga was arrested at Gbaji Customs checkpoint along Lagos-Badagry expressway on Wednesday and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday. In a statement by the Customs Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Command, Taupyen Selchang, the suspect was arrested with about 106 parcels of hemp. The statement said, “The arrest of the suspect was possible through intelligence gathering by the seizing officers, led by A/C Abubakar Hamza, who trailed the suspect from neighboring Benin Republic.
