BABANGIDA CELEBRATES 70TH BIRTHDAY PARTY IN STYLE - IMMACULATE, OTHERS GRACE EVENT

It was 2:00pm on a Sunday afternoon and the family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and well wishers started arriving from St. Joseph Catholic Church to Prison Training College Hall at Kirikiri town, Lagos for the reception in honor of Mr. Soji Augustine ASP [RTD] as he marked his seventieth birthday.

No doubt, it was a fun packed event. Although Kirikiri News Media had not carried a full page online advertisement with a massive picture of the celebrant the previous day announcing the event, over 260 people were in attendance.



 Mr. Soji Augustine popularly known as Babangida among his colleagues friends and neighbors had served in the Nigerian Prison Service for many years. He achieved great heights and commendations during the course of his work until his retirement.

It was no ordinary group of people that gathered at the reception hall. Notable entities from far and wide were spotted. Concerned neighbor, daughter and top rated music artiste Immaculate graced the occasion. She rendered a thrilling happy birthday song to the celebrant.

There were some jamboree young men who played the life band, grey older men in low-keyed, low-toned Agbada robes, voluminous middle aged and older ladies in plain simple styled Ankara with wide-brimmed Gele. And the children too were suitably dressed for the occasion, but without a full understanding of why they were there. Then, there comes the celebrant with his ox-blood fully-blown Agbada with a cap to match which made him the best dressed among all.

"I feel very happy today. I thank all my friends and colleagues for supporting me by being here with me on my special day. I am grateful to every one who spent their time to come from far. God bless everyone" Babangida spoke happily to Kirikiri News Media.

It has come to the notice of the authorities of the Nigerian Prison Service that some unscrupulous syndicates are going about with fake contract documents relating to prisons ration and gas supply as well as fake appointment letters into the service. WORLD'S OLDEST MAN DIES AT 116 IN SOUTH AFRICA

                   Fredie Blom - seen here on his 116th birthday - said there was no special secret to his longevity A South African who was thought to be the oldest man in the world has died at the age of 116. Fredie Blom's identity documents showed he was born in Eastern Cape province in May 1904, although that was never verified by Guinness World Records. When he was a teenager, his entire family was wiped out by the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. He went on to survive two world wars and apartheid.
