…….continued from last week… The next thing that jerked out of Alegribusa’s mouth was alarming and this made the entire market and community people rigid in their decision to follow. They all wanted to see the end of the matter.

“Where are you all going to? Do you all want to sleep in the guard room with the two thieves?” Alegribusa uttered.

There was no single reply to the question asked. As Alegribusa turned around to continue the movement, the people followed suit. He became slow in his gait.

“What is wrong with these people, they really want to know the end of this issue. How will I ask them to go home when their numbers are more than my entire guards? Come to think of it, I only saw tomatoes and pepper inside the nylon bag. The boys actually didn’t steal it. I just wanted to deal with this two boys because it has been a while that we caught a petty thief. Punto and Checheskey didn’t commit any crime. It was my daughter who is to be blamed for her insolence and false accusation. She definitely knew that she will be dealt with if she comes home without the foodstuff she was sent to but from the market by her mother. Now that I have arrested these boys, how can I ask them to go just like that? How can I even get these people off my track?” Alegribusa thought within himself that he forgot they have gotten to the destination.

“Sir! Sir!” a guard called back his attention.

“What! Are we there, bring the boys here and unchain them” Alegribusa replied in his usual high tone.

“Sir, what did you just say” the guard ask confusingly.

“You idiot, are you deaf, bring the boys here and untie them” he repeated himself.

The people all stood to watch what would happen next. The scenario became imaginative, no one could crack what was in the mind of the Chief Security Officer. 

“Is he going the just let them go? Is he going to behead them, is he going to naked them?” the puzzled crowd whispered amongst one another… To be continued next week.

FG SET TO BAN SALE OF ALCOHOL IN SMALL BOTTLES AND SACHET - SEE WHY

The Federal Government has issued directives targeted at phasing out the sale and consumption of alcohol in sachets and polyethylene terephthalate, PET, bottles. The goal is to reduce availability and curb abuse. Effective January 31 2021, producers of alcohol in sachets and small bottles are to reduce production by 50 per cent of capacity prior to January 2020. Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, disclosed this in a statement. Adeyeye said uncontrolled access and availability of high concentration alcohol in sachet and small volume PET or glass bottles contribute to substance and alcohol abuse in Nigeria. She added that NAFDAC and the ministry of health have engaged major shareholders and have reached certain agreements. Before Punto took his shower at his home and rested, he spoke at length with his parents and siblings narrating everything that had happened without missing a line. Checheskey’s parents took him home without giving him a chance to say goodbye to Punto. Although both boys knew it is definite that they will meet in their usual place if the need arises.
