Largest mobile network in Nigeria, MTN has banned midnight
calls. This statement was issued and confirmed during a conversation with a
customer care agent who said it was an order from the management.
There was no reason for the stop of a service that has
helped youths, students and business men alike since 2007 but speculations have
it that it was because the free service provided a room for some customers not
to buy recharge cards often and also to punish Nigerians for the billion Naira fine
slammed on MTN by the NCC.
“It is true that the service has been stopped by the
management. Would that be all for now, thank you for choosing MTN” the customer
care representative told global community reporters.
Midnight calls used to run from 12:30am – 4:30am. This
service will forever be missed but we hope that the management resuscitates it
soon because it is useful and also other networks such as Etisalat and Glo will
continue their own midnight calls service.
