MAGISTRATE COURT SENTENCES TEENAGER TO 10 DAYS COMMUNITY SERVICE

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced a 19-year-old man, Biodun Lukeman, to 10 days community service for stealing N61,000. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, in her judgment, ordered that the convict must put two hours daily for 10 days in serving the sentence.

The convict, whose address is unknown, pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

Prosecutor Anthonia Osanyade told the court that the convict committed the offence at Orile Iganmu in Lagos, sometime in July. Osanyade said that the convict went to the shop of the complainant, Emeka Chukwuka, and stole N61,000 cash while he was busy attending to other customers.‎ She said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
