AWOLOWO ROAD CONSUMED BY HEAVY FLOOD

According to facebook user Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, This is Awolowo road Ikeja after the rain that fell this evening.
Note: Ikeja is mainland part of Lagos and not Island and yet the whole Ikeja was flooded yesterday evening.
Imagine then Island axis of Lagos like Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Banana Island this period that it rains daily....
One Oyibo friend of mine once told me that for all the opportunities and prosperity in this cosmopolitan city, Lagos is one of the most expensive slum in the world.
Whether that assertion is true or false is a discussion for another day.

ABUJA AIRPORT OFFICIALLY OPENS FOR OPERATIONS AFTER 6 WEEKS

Ethiopian Airlines A350 get water salute as the first aircraft to land on the newly rehabilitated Abuja International Airport  The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja is now open for operations and has been certified to accommodate international and local flights. This is according to the Minister of State for aviation, Mr Hadi Sirika, who told journalists at the airport in the nation’s capital that the rehabilitation of the runway is 100 percent complete. The minister landed at the airport at about 11.15am on board a Caverton helicopter from Kaduna, coming a day to the date scheduled for the reopening. 14 BED CLINIC BUILT IN YAHAYA KWANDE COMMUNITY

By Gyang Bere, Jos A former member of the House of Representatives in the Eighth National Assembly, Dr. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, recently constructed and furnished a 14-bed clinic for residents of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was learnt that the clinic, located in the centre of Jos, would serve the health needs of the less privileged in society. The Yahaya Kwande Community Clinic has female and male wards, children and delivery units and a consulting room for doctors and nurses where emergency cases would be attended to. Dr. Suleiman commenced the construction of the clinic as part of his constituency projects during the Eighth Assembly but couldn’t finish it before he left the House of Representatives in 2019. He completed, furnished and handed over the facility to the community on Monday, August 24. 11 PASSENGERS ESCAPE MOTOR ACCIDENT ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESWAY

Tradition demands that Aunt must have sex with niece's groom as potency test.

In Uganda, according to the custom of the Banyankole community tribe, the aunt of the bride must have sex with the groom as a "potency test", and furthermore, has to test the bride's virginity, when the couple wants to get married. Some traditions assert that the husband would first have sex with the aunt before proceeding to have it with the bride. Deaths have reached 75,012 (+199), while recoveries have climbed to 2,308,054, leaving the country with a balance of 157,156 active cases. The total number of vaccines administered is 8,602,124 (+13,660). Health officials say the number of deaths that can be attributed to Covid-19 in South Africa is likely multiple times higher than what is officially reported. The latest figures from the South African Medical Research Council and the Department of Health show that the country has recorded 222,500 ‘excess deaths’ from natural causes since May 2020, with spikes in the number aligning with spikes in Covid-19 deaths. "NIGERIANS WITHOUT PREPAID METERS SHOULD STOP PAYING ELECTRICITY BILLS" - FG

By Jerrywright Ukwu Electricity consumers ​not provided with prepaid meters ​as at​ March 1 2017 have been told to stop paying electricity bills -  This is the directive from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) The Distribution Companies (DISCOs) have however fired back saying the rule is not applicable to all Nigerians The NERC has ​declared that electricity consumers ​that were ​not provided with prepaid meters ​as at​ March 1 should stop paying electricity bills presented by DISCOs on the basis of estimated billing methodology. The commission also ordered the DISCOs not to disconnect any such customer that refuses to pay the bills and further advised such customers to report to the commission if disconnected. The NERC said​ the new directive is in line with its mandate of protecting the rights of customers.
