Continued from last week...
The journey home was not a short one. Both men walked several miles because they had to take another route to enable them reach the market, drop the firewood and set out for the house to rest and talk about what Dangwurugu had in mind.
Meanwhile at home, Punto, Brigante and his mother waited patiently for Dangwurugu to return. They all stared at the golden goat. The goat was golden all through. Its hair, its eyes, its nose, its hoofs, its tail and even its teeth. although, they all couldn't comprehend, they were astonished about this stunning creature.
The goat itself had not eaten the grass provided for it since it was caught. Over three species of grass was brought for the goat but it just wouldn't eat anyone.
"Mum, this goat doesn't eat grass?" Brigante asked.
"I am as amazed as you are, my child" Brigante's mum said.
"Lets give it yam. I remember it ate your yam once" Punto suggested.
"That's true. I almost forgot" Brigante's mum said.
She hurried inside the kitchen and brought one big tuber of yam and put it in front of the goat. The goat began to eat the yam.
"No wonder, the saying that, do not leave a goat with a yam still remains true even in our generation" Punto said.
Reaching home, Okpolooblongata1 dropped his cutlass, and called on his wife to get him drinking water and a bench to sit.
"My husband , you are welcome, his wife said. Good afternoon Dangwurugu" his beautiful wife uttered with a smile.
"Good afternoon our wife" Dangwurugu replied.
I have dropped the firewood and other items in our shop at the market. You can go and check them later" Okpolooblongata1 said to his wife immediately he finished drinking the water she had brought.
She also brought a cup for Dangwurugu.
My friend, what is it you wanted to tell me" Okpolooblongata1 asked.. to be continued next Wednesday.
