The member, Federal House of Representatives representing Amuwo Odofin , Hon Oghene Emma Egoh has voiced out his opinion over the recent killings in Festac town weeks ago saying that the murders must be caught and tried.
in a statement through his Facebook page he said;
"I received with sadness the news of two of my constituents who were shot and killed by civil defence This was a very callous action. These people who through no fault of theirs were subjected to the harsh situation of getting fuel with Jerry cans were killed in such a gruesome manner.They were neither armed nor were they declared wanted by the police. The officers also had an option to arrest the victims rather than resulting to the use of firearms. We understand Ikechukwu was shot thrice it was not his fault that Nigeria had no fuel inspite of the fact that we are the 7th largest oil producer in the world.It is not the fault of d young lad that Nigeria had no electricity it is d failure of Government that forced my constituents to go out with Jerrycans to look for fuel to power their generator That five people were violently shot in my constituency through the failure of Govt shows the social injustice in Nigeria. I therefore call on the Nigerian police and the head of Civil Defence Corp to immediately produce those officers without delay ànd they should be charged for murder.
