NEW MODERN MARKET TO BE BUILT AT COMFORT OBOH STREET

A new market is set to be constructed at Comfort Oboh Street in the near future as foundations, block of sands has already been sighted at the L-shaped land.

The market which is to be called Oba Alahun Modern Market already has a signboard boldly mounted with a water borehole just in front of it.

Speculations have it that the market may be a private market and not an extension of the famous Local Council owned 'Oja market' at the Kirikiri town Bustop.

FG SET TO BAN SALE OF ALCOHOL IN SMALL BOTTLES AND SACHET - SEE WHY

The Federal Government has issued directives targeted at phasing out the sale and consumption of alcohol in sachets and polyethylene terephthalate, PET, bottles. The goal is to reduce availability and curb abuse. Effective January 31 2021, producers of alcohol in sachets and small bottles are to reduce production by 50 per cent of capacity prior to January 2020. Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, disclosed this in a statement. Adeyeye said uncontrolled access and availability of high concentration alcohol in sachet and small volume PET or glass bottles contribute to substance and alcohol abuse in Nigeria. She added that NAFDAC and the ministry of health have engaged major shareholders and have reached certain agreements. Ibrahim Shuiabu in Kano Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, yesterday promised that he would relocate to Sambisa Forest if elected the president in 2023.   Al-Mustapha, contesting the 2023 Presidential election on the platform of Action Alliance (AA), disclosed that some persons, numbering 56 in number, “are eating Nigeria like termites.” He made this disclosure during an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Al-Mustapha  was arrested on October 21, 1998, over the death of  Kudirat, wife of MKO Abiola. He was in Kirikiri Prison in Lagos until the court cleared him of all the allegations levelled against him in 2013. Speaking at the session, the retired major said these persons were 56 in number, adding that he came across the information while in prison.
