POLITICS, LIFESTYLE AND PLOTS IN OUR COMMUNITY

Written by U.D Okechukwu

I am not Senator Ben Murray Bruce neither do I want to make common sense but Come to think of it, Kirikiri town should be developed by now to an extent. At least, roads! On January 26th 2016, Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari wife of the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari visited the Kirikiri Prison Service Barracks in Kirikiri town to commission a special building and as some people will say “came to check if there is space ‪#‎antigraftwar‬”, she didn’t use a helicopter. She must have seen and observed the condition of the road leading to the most secured prison in the entire Republic of Nigeria. It’s very impossible for the car which she used not to quiver from left to right as a result of the bad road. Do you know that if someone represents you in an event, that person becomes you automatically?

Turning to the side of politics, over 4 PDP/APC campaign banners have been sighted hanging at the cross junction of Agunbiade/Cardoso Streets. What significance does that particular junction possess?

On all of the banner’s which we cannot show you because the politicians who aspire to. become Chairmen of Oriade Local Council Development Area haven’t paid for publicity space, one couldn’t locate any anticipated obligation of service if voted for.

Facing the Community Development Association, Mm. What can we say? Taciturn will be the right word. Especially in CDA2 where the Chairman was by all accounts suspended indefinitely from his position and no sign of a new chairman yet. We hear there is a Vice-chairman.

Lifestyle of the people further ebb even away from the usual being indoors during the day and coming out during the night to take a make-I-see-wetin-dey-happen-for-front-I-dey-come stroll. Also, those who would wake up early in the morning to go to work will return so famished and tired that it is visible all over their faces and the next thing you will hear is “light dey” a neighbor will immediately reply “light no dey”… of course you know the next statement!

Taking a glance into the Kirikiri Oja market and their inflated prices of every food item. For instance, one ‘derica’ (800g retail measurement) of rice and beans sells for NGN200. The market women attributed this to the increased Dollar exchange rate to the Naira. True or false?

Now that Lagos state head of the ministry of local government and community affairs Hon. Muslim falimo has beckoned the contractors not to do a rash job on the roads to be rehabilitated which Dillion road happens to be among, all residents want to see is action, technical/mechanical equipment, materials and men at work.

Well, development happens daily when someone rises up to responsibility.
